Commissioned by Hidrostal Duitsland, last summer Eekels installed a complex temporary pump installation in the German city of Dillingen an der Saar located in Saarland, close to the French and Luxembourg borders. The task of the TPI: the diversion of the dirty water flow of the local water purification plant during the major renovation work while the complete coarse filter installation was replaced.
Installation setup
A large scale installation was required for the bypass since the total quantity of raw sewage water to be handled was something like 10,000 m3/hour. The TPI therefore included two submersed Hidrostal F10KH pumps for the dry weather discharge, as well as four dry mounted Hidrostal I16K pumps for the rainy weather discharge. In addition, as standby units, a reserve pump of each type was functionally connected.
Challenges
Apart form the limited access (1.50 x 2.00 metres) from one of the suction wells, the suction height of 7.50 metres was also quite a challenge. By choosing a setup where each pump could have its own vacuum system, the Eekels specialists were able to keep the risks of breakdown and the possible shortage of capacity resulting from that to a minimum. The TPI was thus also able to operate without interruption for two months without any problems.
