Rental job: renovation of the Oudeschans and Bellingwolde pumping stations

The Hunze and Aa’s Water Board commissioned the renovation of the pumping stations in Oudeschans and Bellingwolde at the end of November. The Eekels pumps and switch boxes dating from 1986 were replaced with modern, high-quality new pumps and equipment. During the four-week conversion Eekels provided the by-pass pumping for both pumping stations.
Periodic renovations
The Hunze and Aa's Water Board owns more than 100 sewage pumping stations, which need to be periodically replaced or refurbished. During renovation, a pumping station is also fitted with new pumps, pipes, valves and an electrical switch box. In addition, the sump is repaired where necessary. In 2010, a total of six pumping stations were refurbished, including those of Oudeschans and Bellingwolde.
Sales & Rental Eemshaven
Both pumping stations were tackled simultaneously. Despite frost coming very early late last year, the job was very successful thanks to the good cooperation between Mous Pompenbouw from Balk en Aannemingsbedrijf Witteveen from Surhuisterveen. Eekels provided the required support and services for the temporary pump installations from Sales & Rental Eemshaven, the support location for the northern provinces.
